About Lost Dog Tracking Network
Lost Dog Tracking Network (LDTN) began as a grassroots organisation founded by Clare Brown and has grown into a national network with regional branches. Our local branch, Lost Dog Tracking Network — Notts & Derby, was founded in May 2025 when Jenny and her dog Voodoo completed their operational assessments.
Our Team
Since June 2025 we've trained and assessed several teams. By May 2026 seven more dog-and-handler teams passed their assessments and are now operational. We also work with trained "buddies" who assist on searches to keep our teams safe.
Training & Assessment
To reach operational standard each dog-and-handler pair completes a three-course programme run by LDTN's founder. Training includes:
- Aged trails and scenarios where scent is degraded
- Water crossings and difficult terrain
- Situations where a scent may end (for example a picked-up dog)
- Rural and urban search environments
The full programme typically takes around 12 months. At the end of course three both dog and handler are assessed before becoming operational.
What We Offer
All of our services are voluntary and focused on supporting owners in the distressing event of a missing pet. We provide search deployment support, advice to owners, and coordinated local search efforts with trained teams.
